So why did Roy Orbison wear dark sunglasses throughout his music career? Dark glasses were not the fashion when Roy Orbison started wearing them and he certainly was not blind.

There are one or two strange stories going around as to why Roy Orbison wore the dark sunglasses but the one realistic reason as to why this rock and roll legend was always seen wearing them is this. He once left his regular glasses behind after leaving to take a plane on the East coast of America. When he boarded the plane he was wearing his dark prescription glasses. Because he had forgot his others, when they landed he had to keep the dark glasses on even though by this time it was dark.

Apparantely, his record management thought it gave him a mysterious kind of look and from then on and because of that incident the dark sunglasses became Roy Orbisons famous trademark.

Out of interest, Roy Orbison grew up in Texas and was born on April the 23rd 1936. He became one of Rock and Rolls greatest legends during his singing career with songs like “Crying”, “Only The Lonely”, “Pretty Woman” and “I Drove All Night” amongst many hits. He had an excellent singing voice and was respected by many bands, pop and rock stars alike. Roy Orbison sadly passed of a heart attack in the month of December 1988 although his memory lives on through his timeless music and wonderful songs. To this day there are documentaries and music videos being aired on television channels around the world of Roy Orbison singing those wonderful hits on stage with a guitar and of course his trademark dark sunglasses.

The hit song by Maroon 5 ‘Won’t go home without you’ was performed by the pop rock band live on the David Letterman Late Show to a very appreciative audience.

It is easy to see why they are growing into such a massively famous band and Maroon 5 won’t go home without you is surely one of the singles that is helping them achieve this.

Take That Pop Group

The Take That pop group are a boy band from the UK of which singer Robbie Williams used to be a member of this once five man act. Now a four man band, Take That have recently got together again and are achieving success with their fresh hit pop songs. The four group members are, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Gary Barlow.

Labeled as one of the most successful pop groups in Britain since The Beatles, Take That were formed in 1990 and originally sold more than 25,000,000 albums in the space of 5 years. This popular boy band split up in 1996 to the disappointment of pop music fans all over the world, not only in the UK. Robbie Williams was partly to blame for the break up of Take That after disagreements between Williams and Gary Barlow which eventually led to Robbie walking out of the band.

Among the discography of Take That is their “Everything Changes” album released under the Arista, RCA record label in 1994 and in 1996 their “Greatest Hits” record, both of which became best selling albums of the decade. The question on everyone’s lips about the Take That pop group was how many hit singles could they now produce and which one’s would make it to number one in the UK pop charts and other music charts around the world.

In May, 2006 the first studio album recorded in more than ten years was added to the Take That discography and set to take the world charts again by storm. In 2007 they went on tour which was criticised highly by music critics and went on to be a sell-out. The song “Patience” won the best British single award in 2007 and the band performed live at the BRIT awards.

Nominated for as many as four BRIT awards during 2008, it is clear to see that this boy band from England are going to be around for a while yet and with a new album due for release in November 2008 the Take That pop group are sure to deliver a few more chart topping hit songs.

Prime Circle

Rock band prime circle is one of SA’s most popular music groups. Few other bands have done as well as prime circle over such a short space of time and with hit songs like “Hello” and “As long as I am here” they have topped the south african music charts and achieved stardom and success over a very short period of time. This popular rock group have played their music to screaming fans and crowds of people at all the major music festivals around south africa including up the creek, oppi koppie, splashy fen, woodstock and aardklop to name a few.

The rock music that prime circle writes and performs is cutting edge and their songs have been recorded on over ten south african compilation CD’s. It took this talented group of musicians no less than two years to burst out of their band room in the town of Witbank and onto the stages around the country becoming one of SA’s quickest rising groups. Prime circle consist of 4 band members and in no particular order they are:

Ross Learmonth: Vocals and Guitar
Dirk Bisschoff: Lead Guitar
Gerard Venter: Drums
Marco Gomes: Bass

Along with other popular south african bands prime circle are signed up with the legendary David Gresham record company and the first recorded cd sold over 45 000 copies. They also put together “Living in a Crazy World”, a music video dvd which featured hits from both their previous albums. Some highlights of this band’s successful music career have been sharing the stage with rock legends such as metallica, live and collective soul.

They are likely to continue to climb the south african music charts with more rock songs and ballads as time goes by and it goes without saying that the talented rock group prime circle are certainly going places.

What Is Colette’s Sido About

So what is colette’s sido about then? We have been asked this question so if you need to know what colette’s sido is about read on.

In this wonderful book we read that sido is colette’s mother and that collete’s father passed away in his study while writing memoirs and binding them into books. Collete and the rest of the family were never tempted to enter their fathers study while he was alive and open any of the books he was writing. It was while they were converting the library into a bedroom however that colette’s older brother started looking through the books and discovered that actually these books were full of blank pages except for one dedication.

So why were the pages blank of colette’s father’s books? Was it invisible ink?

Reading further into the book we find that sido is a wonderful, down to earth yet powerful women who treats her daughter colette wonderfully. We don’t want to give to much away and suggest you buy the book to read for yourself but what we can say is that colette’s sido is worth about every penny you have spend on it.

Pop Group Smokie

The amazing UK pop group smokie are still performing today! They’ve been performing as a pop group for over thirty years and the fact that smokie are still touring and so in love with their popular music is awe inspiring.

The original members of the pop group smokie:

Chris Norman

These three guys went to school together and were mates growing up in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Smokie wasn’t the original name for this UK pop group in fact it was “The Elizabethans”. Not too long after this they changed the band name again and this time they renamed themselves “Kindness”.

After the hard and often frustrating road of trying to make it in the music business the pop group smokie finally landed a record deal with Mickey Most under the RAK label in the year of 1974 and this is when they changed the band name for the last time to smokie. The first hit came not long after for this infamous pop group and it was the song “If you think you know how to love me” which got to number 3 in the British music charts and sold millions across the globe. It was from then on that smokie went and traveled the world on tour and the group members now included drummer Pete Spencer.

Smokie broke up not long after and each member went their own separate ways until 1986 when they got together for what was only planned as a one-off benefit concert in Bradford England. The concert was such a hit that they decided to get the band back together again. After a lot more touring and more success, Chris Norman couldn’t stay committed to the band smokie and announced his departure to pursue his solo career.

Not too long later the band got their act together and put together a new line up.

Sadly Alan Barton passed away in 1995 and smokie had to face this crisis now they had lost their front man and very dear friend.

They made the difficult decision to carry on and after some auditioning took on a new lead singer by the name of Mike Craft. Mike took to the challenge and in 1976 smokie released their massive hit “Living Next Door To Alice”. Even now, after more than thirty years and a lot of water under the bridge, the incredible pop group smokie are still playing music and touring for their fans!
