After describing some common pregnancy symptoms recently we decided to offer some more information on a couple of the issues that pregnant women have to deal with and a few words of advice in dealing with them. Mood swings are common due to raging hormones and PMS type outbursts can leave you ecstatic the one minute and in tears the next! Anxiety about the birth and disturbed sleep, as well as worries about how you will cope as a mother are enough to give any expectant mum the blues. Exercise is a great way to heighten your mood and get the ‘feel good’ endorphins flowing. Regular meals to keep blood sugar levels stable and swapping sugary sweets and chocolate with wholesome alternatives will help as well as relaxation and regular treats.

Many women experience pregnancy symptoms such as swollen legs and ankles which are caused by fluid retention and can get worse during hot weather or when standing for long periods of time. This can be helped by avoiding too much salt or processed ready made foods and meals. Drinking plenty of fluids on a daily basis and massaging your legs (or getting your partner to do it) from the ankle upwards will also help as well as soaking your feet in a bucket of cool water. Leafy vegetables, bananas and apricots should also help regulate your body’s fluid levels as they are rich in potassium.

Itchy skin is caused by the hormonal changes and in the summer this can feel worse and become almost unbearable. Take regular cool baths or showers in the hot summer months and wear lightweight clothes made from natural fabrics in order to allow your skin to breathe. Calamine lotion can help ease the itchiness when applied to the areas in question and try to use unscented soaps and bath products instead of fragranced ones. If severe itching persists, especially during the third trimester and on the hands and feet, make an appointment with your local doctor to have it looked at. Hopefully between the two articles of information we have covered the most common pregnancy symptoms that mum’s to be experience and you have found our tips and advice useful.

Symptoms of pregnancy differ from one woman to the next and you will be extremely fortunate to sail through without a niggle here and there but there are many ways to deal with the aches and pains to boost your well being. The first 12 weeks usually sees the early morning sickness experience, not nice as those who have experienced will testify. Eating toast in bed in the mornings can help raise blood sugar levels, fruit may freshen your palate and ginger tea can help with the queasiness. Over tiredness makes the morning sickness experience worse so get lots of rest and if you are vomiting persistently, best to make an appointment with your local doctor.

Among the other common symptoms of pregnancy experienced is backache and pains which is largely due to the extra weight being carried. Posture and stretching excersises are good for easing aching muscles and gentle excercise such as walking or swimming will help to keep the spine flexible. Warm baths and gentle back massages can assist in relieving the aches experienced when pregnant. If your back pain is extreme and persistent than it is advisable to make an appointment with a local physio who will help and advise with your specific problem and area of pain.

Heartburn is another one, that horrible burning sensation experienced in the chest area caused by those pregnancy hormones. Tips to help cure heartburn include avoiding rich, high fat, spicy or acidic foods, chocolate and coffee. Eating smaller meals and eating a little often can help in giving the stomach less time to build up acid. Sipping peppermint tea can help and Gaviscon is safe for most people to take although get the all clear from your local doctor first. If you experience heartburn worse at night time, avoid eating three hours before going to sleep and try to sleep in a slightly elevated position to help keep stomach acids down. There are many other common symptoms of pregnancy that women experience which we will cover in the near future.

Hair loss affects both men and women and laser hair treatment is one of the modern therapies commonly used by people all over the world to both replace and stimulate follicles for new growth or removal to get rid of unwanted hair. Male pattern hair loss, or androgenetic alopecia, is common in men, affecting about 40% of the world’s male population by age 40 and about 50% by the age of 50. This condition begins to occur in some men in their early twenties and can lead to hidden psychological security emotions and problems.

Successful results through laser hair treatment have been reported consistently around the world for a number of years now and as this does affect mainly men with hair loss occuring, most of the studies have been done on those with male pattern hair loss. A man can inherit this trait from his mother’s or his father’s side of the family, it is genetically programmed so to speak. There are more and more solutions for the regular male pattern baldness being developed by scientists and doctors throughout the world on a daily basis.

Other types of hair loss that affect both men and women of all ages include the stress of an illness or major surgery, medications such as chemotherapy, blood thinners, excessive doses of vitamin A, anti-depressants and diseases such as diabetes. Those who have thick bodily hair in places they would rather not have it, commonly on the back, shoulders and neck, may have it permanently removed by laser surgery. Before any decisions are made by someone suffering from loss or for removal it is important to consult a doctor first. Your doctor is the best source of information about whether laser hair treatment will be the correct solution for you.

Mosquito bites are common in South Africa and prevention of getting bitten is better than cure but there are treatments available for those who have a few or are covered in bites. There is no malaria to worry about in this country as the buzzing little insects throughout SA are not carriers of the disease. Swamps, dams, marshy areas, rivers and just about anywhere there is water and often an abundance of trees are the kind of places that mosquito’s breed and are found in their millions! Camping for example will put you within their blood sucking range and prevention is advised if you are going to be staying on a camp site anywhere near water.

Types of mosquito bite preventions include netted clothing (not very fashionable at the moment) or various creams and sprays that can be applied safely to the skin on the body. The sprays and creams must be used with caution on young children and women and not be sprayed on the face, inhaled or rubbed anywhere near the eyes. Most good prevention treatments will last between 8-10 hours assuring you of a reasonable nights sleep if you are out at night in the bush on safari for example. A natural repellent used worldwide with good success to stop mosquito’s in their tracks is lemon eucalyptus oil. However, lemon eucalyptus oil is not recommended for use on children under the age of four years old.

Treatments to cure mosquito bites if they have occurred may depend on how severe the bites and the type of reaction that has been experienced. For example if heart palpitations and swelling in places other than where the bite is located are experienced then emergency medical treatment needs to be sought quickly. If you have been bitten many times then using antihistamine cream such as Antisan will help when applied only to the affected areas. A simple cold shower can help relieve swelling and the itching feeling for a while but there are some good creams available that will stop the annoying itch of most mosquito bites.

Laser hair treatment offers breakthrough solutions for people who are either suffering from the loss of hair or are looking to remove it from areas of the body where it may be unwanted such as on the back, shoulders or legs. Both men and women are experiencing the benefits of this modern solution and shaving, waxing or unsightly hair plugs and transplants or wigs could quite easily become a thing of the past as the options here become more popular and advanced.

Every potential patient has to be evaluated before laser hair treatment is carried out so that exact needs and objectives can be identified and a program put together and offered. For example many people suffering from the loss of hair on the head could be affected by things such as thyroid disease, diabetes or on certain medications. Male pattern Baldness (MPB) is commonly experienced in men all over the world and genetically related usually. Breakthrough technologies are slowly being discovered that will give people options and solutions to help stop this if it bothers them.

People everywhere, men and women have hair growing in places that they do not want it. Having it removed permanently and the follicles killed off with laser surgery instead of always having to wax or shave is an option that many will be pleased to pay for and speaking of price, should become cheaper with time. In all cases it is advisable to seek the advice of a local doctor and perhaps get recommendations to the clinic where one can be evaluated. Experts need to interview and run tests to identify specific solutions for people who are looking to gain or remove hair with the latest laser hair treatment solutions available.

Tea tree oil products include skin wash, creams, shampoo, conditioner or tablets and can be used to treat acne, warts, lice, stings, sinus, burns and much more ailments besides. It is distilled from the Australian tree Melaleuca Alternifolia and was first used medicinally by Australian aborigines before being identified as an antiseptic by the New South Wales chief chemist during the 1920’s. It is only in the last 30 years however that the Melaleuca Alternifolia has been cultivated intensively as a commercial agricultural crop.

Many companies now sell tea tree oil products to help heal a number of different ailments among which the most popular uses are for acne, warts, lice, eczma and sunburn. Moisturising creams, body lotions, soaps, face cleansing washes, shampoo’s and conditioner’s are also popular treatments among those who use the oil. This treatment is gaining in popularity around the world as a natural antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory agent medicine and is being used by patients with some outstanding results.

People with eczma and psoriasis have found the cream to be beneficial when it comes to softening and protecting the dry rough skin that is typical of these conditions. Mouth ulcers, gumboils and fever blisters are conditions that have been treated successfully using the oil. Infections and re-infections can be prevented by adding a capful to a regular bath. Products are sold over the counter and for those looking at natural medicine’s to treat skin problems, heal wounds, soothe sunburn and much more, the tea tree oil products are definitely worth a look.

Teeth whitening treatment is available for both men and women alike and professional treatments can whiten and brighten even the dullest of smiles and are affordable for every budget. There are a few options available to people who are looking at doing this including using a home bleaching kit such as the ‘Zoom’ system with step by step instructions on how to make your teeth whiter yourself. Or booking a session at a local dentist who will be able to advise on if you are suitable for the treatment and supervise the process if you are.

In South Africa teeth whitening treatment is becoming more popular especially for people that have stains from food and drinks such as red wine, coffee or tea and nicotine stains from smoking. Some people have staining under the surface which may have been caused by taking antibiotic medication or other things and want them whitened again. For best results a patient will take two or three visits to the dentist over a period of about three weeks to a month. After which they will be given a treatment to continue at home for another two to four weeks in order to get the maximum results and the most beautiful white smile possible.

The effects of this process can last up to three years but if you are smoking regularly it will be less likely to last that long as well as if you are drinking and eating products that cause stains. It is best to consult your dentist for advice before you start with any treatment, even if you are going to use the home based kits like the ‘Zoom’ professional tooth whitening system. There are no major side effects to having this done although some people may experience sensitivity to cold afterwards, discomfort in the gums or a sore throat. These side effects are not serious providing they do not persist and normally will not last very long after the process.

Home kits are readily available and cheaper than having your dentist carry out the procedure but they are not really recommended as they are not as effective or as safe as having your smile made brighter by a professional. Toothpastes are available at supermarkets and pharmacies that can help a little in removing stains and improving the overall appearance of your smile but they will not be effective in getting your teeth really white. These toothpastes are however good to use after you have been through a professional teeth whitening treatment and will help keep your smile bright and white.

Low blood pressure causes symptoms due to the low flow of blood through the veins and treatment will vary from one patient to the next depending on the cause. Hypotension is another name used for this and symptoms may include dizziness, fainting and the feeling of being light headed. These effects are usually experienced the most when a person goes from a lying or seated position to a standing position. There is the possibility that an inadequate flow of blood to a body’s organs can cause heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure to name a few of the more severe possibilities.

Common causes of low blood pressure can include heart disease, medications and a reduced overall volume of blood in the body. Blood tests, radiologic studies and cardiac testing can be carried out to determine the cause in an effort to diagnose the correct treatment to a patient. Patients on insulin medication for diabeties often experience irregularities in their blood pressure and anyone experiencing the symptoms associated with hypotension should consult their local doctor as soon as possible for professional advice and the correct treatment necessary for them.

It is possible that you may have hypotension if your pressure is at a constant high for long periods of time. It is normal for it to be high during periods of excercise or stressful situations but if it is staying that way when you are resting then you could well have a problem. If you suspect that their may be something wrong because of some of the symptoms you are experiencing then make an appointment with your local doctor to ask him or her if you have a low blood pressure problem and get advice on the correct treatment for you.

Skin problems in Adults and Children are very common from acne, eczma, fungal infections and sunburn, especially in hot sunny countries like South Africa. There are many treatments available on the market to help people with various conditions and also information on what causes certain skin troubles and diseases. Acne in particular is not only experienced by teenagers going through hormonal changes but also in grown adults and can affect men and women in their thirties, forties and fifties. Most people experience getting some kind of rash at least once in their lives which are not usually serious and can be cleared up quickly with the correct rash cream.

Drug rehab centers are available in the town or city in your area for people with abuse and addiction problems. Lists of drug rehab centers will help a person locate the nearest addiction counseling services and recovery treatment programs available to assist in the rehabilitation process. Cocaine and heroin addictions are two of the most addictive drugs available and these centers have programs that will advise and help people who may be addicted to these substances.

There are so called softer drugs that some have problems getting off including marijuana which many believe should be legalised but the fact remains that there are many people addicted to marijuana that have tried to quit smoking it, find it difficult and even believe they can’t give it up. That’s why the rehab centers are established, to help someone who has accepted they have a drug problem and are now looking for professional help in giving up. Trained counselors at a center will be able to assist and advise on the necessary steps and treatment needed to help treat drug addiction.

Recent studies have shown that drug addiction is often caused by chemical imbalances that can make for a more difficult recovery process as counseling addicts used to be the primary treatment.
