There are a huge number of bed and breakfasts and camp sites which are great for shorter stays, but there are also wonderful self catering houses and flats available to rent. Depending on your budget and your interests you will need to think about what sort of accommodation is best for you. The beaches in Hermanus are incredibly popular and there is a chance of spotting a whale all year round. This lovely town which was the setting for Zakes Mda’s novel “The Whale Caller” is a tranquil place to have an amazing vacation.

In many cases people will have provided reviews which will let you know the ups and downs of staying there. Hermanus is about an hour and a half away from Cape Town, so is free from the hustle and bustle of city life. There are some wonderful spas to visit and the beaches are pristine and beautiful.
If you choose bed and breakfasts then be sure to incorporate the costs of dining out for lunch and supper into your budget. For camping and self catering flats you will obviously save on your accomodation costs, but will also have to budget for your food for the duration of the stay.
